Coyote Rising
My most recent assignment was for Easton Press Books - this frontispiece for Allen Steele's new novel: Coyote Rising.
I had a hard time picking the best scene in the book to illustrate so I contacted Allen and told him some ideas and he told me about a waterfall in Tennessee that was a favorite spot of his and which he had thought of when he was writing a part of the story. I found the place and took photos, but of course I had to adapt it to the world Allen had created. This was a very fun piece to work on, with lots of experimentation in textures and light.
