This is a commissioned piece for two good friends of mine - Krisha and Sydney. They wanted a painting with some very specific images - the portal, the forest and stream, the elves, the horses but mostly they wanted a piece with two things in mind - they wanted themselves painted into the scene the least conspicuous so that when people looked at the piece they would not realize at first that Sydney and Krisha were in it, and secondly they wanted the viewer to wonder about the painting: where these people on a journey?, have they just left the portal or are they about to enter it. Sydney and Krisha came up with the title so I let it stick, it is based on a place from The Lord of the Rings.
