Tyche of the New City

What disappoints me greatly in S.F. illustration are futuristic cities that have a uniform look when actuality most cities are combination of old and new structures, this was an exercise for me to create such a city. The airship you see to the right is based on an actual design of one in existence today. The rest of the piece is made up, except for the model who I hired to pose for me. You are probably wondering about the word Tyche in the title, I chose it because one of the statues on the central building is borrowed from a Greek statue of the goddess Tyche - A Greek goddess, originally of fortune and chance, and then of prosperity. She was a very popular goddess and several Greek cities choose her as their protectress. Prints available.
